Yoga for Children (5-8 years)

“Playful, creative and relaxing”

Yoga for Children is a combination of yoga and play, with fun being at the core. In our classes, children can explore yoga through imaginative breathing exercises, games, yoga poses, relaxation, visualisation and creative activities.

What does a class look like?

In a children’s yoga class, the main focus is for the kids to have fun. Each class is an exploration with fun themes that are playful and match the child’s experience and developmental phase. In a children’s yoga class we use music, movements, motor skills, fantasy, massage, sensory exercises, drawing and group discussion. As the child grows older, more yoga elements will be integrated, such as breathing, meditation, concentration, visualisation, body postures (asanas) and mudras. Each class has a fixed structure. Yoga is not about perfomance. However a child does it, it’s always good! Yoga is safe and therefore can be practised by any child. Children with a physical or mental disorder are also welcome. What is most important is that the child enjoys yoga!

What are the benefits?

Children’s yoga gives strength and balance and helps to improve body posture. Children become more aware of themselves, their bodies, emotions and surroundings. Through this they feel more confident and learn how to be vulnerable. It improves circulation and teaches how to let go and relax. In this way, yoga can also help children who have sleep problems.

Who teaches this class?
