‘Yesterday is History,
Tomorrow is a Mystery,
Today is a Gift,
That is why we call it the Present’

Cristina Guerra

Hatha Flow, Vinyasa, Restorative, Nidra and Meditation teacher

Biography:
For the past eleven years yoga has been my balance-point and a way of resolving health issues which conventional medicine had said were incurable. After an intense 500HYTT in Hatha Vinyasa certified by Yoga Alliance, light came to me and my life has since changed. Even all my previous studies of Art psychotherapy, Quantum-touch and Reiki come to be more interconnected than ever.

Since 2014, I have been travelling around South-East Asia and Australia practicing Yoga. I then decided to return to my European roots and chose Amsterdam as the community in which I wish to share the Yoga techniques that have assisted me in overcoming my limitations with a peaceful state of mind and the sequences that help to energetically balance our busy daily lives.

In my belief, awareness within yourself is the best way to evolve, insomuch that the connection with the breath is my focus for the Flows, Restorative Yoga, or the start of any Meditation. As the tantric tradition says, ‘Controlling the breath fluctuations stops the polarisation of the mind’.
I have since undertaken more training to deepen my knowledge in white tantric Meditation, Krya Yoga, and Yoga Nidra.

Favorite asana:
Pavritta Janu Sirsana – Revolved Head-to-knee angle pose.

What does this asana bring you?
In a deeper level it combines relaxation with expansion. Is just about closing my eyes and enjoy it within. The Upavista Konasana itself is a relaxing pose however very introverted. I find that the Pravritta version just keeps everything more opened from the internal to external world. Besides it is a very complete asana combining pelvic release with spine and hamstrings extension, at the same time it is a twist and and heart opening. The physical objective is the expansion of the side torso, internally the organs stretch in one side of the body and compress on the opposite side. It releases toxins in the digestive system and activates the lymphatic and immune systems with the stretch of the torso and heart opening.
